Dr Torsten Schäfer, Professor of Journalism and Text Production at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, is convinced that animals and plants can become vehicles for storytelling and open up new perspectives on humanity’s relationship with the environment. As part of the ‘Talking Salmon’ research project, in collaboration with OsloMet University in Norway, Schäfer has launched a laboratory for ecological storytelling, which also engages with the public through a writing workshop. The aim is to create a narrative that motivates people to show greater perseverance when it comes to sustainability.
